Commitment to Sustainability: Windy Hills' Move to Eco-Friendly Packaging

At Windy Hills Farm, sustainability isn't just a buzzword—it's a core value that guides every decision we make. As part of our commitment to protecting the environment, we are proud to announce our transition to eco-friendly packaging for our herbs. This shift marks a significant step forward in reducing our environmental footprint while continuing to deliver the freshest, highest-quality produce to our customers.

Our new herb sleeves are made from recycled kraft paper and acetate film, materials that are fully recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable. This thoughtful design ensures that every sleeve not only preserves the freshness of our produce but also aligns with our responsibility to care for the planet. Currently, our supplier is working towards APCO certification to validate the sustainability of this packaging further and reinforce our dedication to eco-conscious practices.

This change was a natural progression for Windy Hills Farm Director Germaine Borg. "It went against the grain to put our product—grown in the earth or hydroponically—in plastic packaging," she explains. While transitioning to sustainable materials involves higher costs, Germaine believes it's an essential step. "It's part of our social responsibility to ensure we are doing our part to protect the environment," she says.

This initiative reflects Windy Hills' broader mission to balance innovation and environmental stewardship. By making sustainable choices, we hope to inspire others in the industry to follow suit. As we continue to implement eco-friendly solutions across our operations, we're excited to lead by example and contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.

Whether you're a customer enjoying our fresh produce or a retailer partnering with us, your support helps make this change possible.

Together, we can create a more sustainable future—one herb sleeve at a time.
